Following their very successful range of nude lipsticks launched last year, L'Oreal surprised us again with a more vibrant addition to the 'colour riche privee collection' this time with 'Pure Reds' (but I thought I'd add in and review my favourite nude for you to)
Red lipstick in general is kind of like marmite, you either love it or you hate it. I think for a lot of us we see red lipstick as such a bold statement.. and with the wrong type of red shade (believe me there are many) you can end up looking very washed out, or rocking a yellow teeth look yikes! Here comes L'Oreal and why their (fairly) new collection of exclusive reds could be perfect for the not so daring of you lot out there unwilling to give red a go..
So they've cleverly designed a range of reds to compliment all skin tones, and like last years 'nude' collection they have matched each shade to a celebrity, which will give you a helping hand when choosing a shade to fit your complexion..
Although I only have two shades, there are a total of four shades in the exclusive red collection (UK), Blake's Red, Julianne's Red, Liya's Red & Eva's Reds
I was initially drawn to Blake's red, purely for the name.. being a massive fan of gossip girl, and Blake Lively's general fashion & look, this was naturally the first shade I picked up, loved - especially because it was slightly pinker than the rest of the shades, more girly & so it didn't take long before it was popped in my basket. - along with this, I also purchased Liya's red, purely because at the time I still had my summer tan, and found that with a more darker tone it complimented my tan.
The formula itself is a satin finish so it lasts long on the lips, I would recommend applying a balm before or after as it can become very drying after an all day wear.. Also, if you want precision and a perfect finish, I would highly recommend finding yourself a lip liner in a similar shade (or a contrasting, if ya wanna be whacky) just to finish the look.
(Julianne's nude, Blake's red, Liya's red)
The third lipstick in my mini collection is Julianne's nude from last years collection which caught my eye at the time as I was on the look out for the perfect nude shade, it is a peachy pink tone, perfect for summer / winter and an everyday natural look - Its glossy, shiny & moisturising. The formula itself is really nice, each nude lipstick contains Lanolin oil and Sesame seed oil this allows the lipstick to be very moisturising as well as leaving a lasting colour despite its sheer finish.
The exclusive 'Red's' collection is available in Boots at £6.99, with a frequent '3 for 2' offer, I really think these lipsticks are a bargain for the high quality you get.
- the more permanent nude collection is also available in Boots at £8.19, still a good price for the quality.
have you got a favourite red? and which celebrity shade would you go for?
