The Beauty Bloggers Tag..

I thought I might do a different post today, one that focuses more on me rather than my opinions on products & beauty etc.. This was taken from Sal at Novarellie .. Here's a link to her tag post..
http://novarellie.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/get-to-know-me-beauty-blogger-tag.html

Enjoy!
1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?

It's kind of in the middle, I'd say more wavy, and it's very dependant on what shampoo/conditioner I use and whether I blow dry it.
2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?

I used to dye it myself, until I started killing my hair.. The last few times I've been to the salon.

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
Usually it stays the same, down and frizzy!

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?

Nails I usually do myself, but I like a nice pedicure from a salon!
5. How often do you change your nail polish?

I literally never wear nail varnish because I get stressed out when it doesn't last, but if I do, it'll be every couple of days because I get bored..
6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?

Both!

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?

Depends on what I'm putting it on for, everyday makeup takes about 10 minutes, if it's an evening thing usually an hour
8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?

Usually my base, which would be primer, concealer, foundation.. Then I would do my eyes, then  finish my face.
9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?

Collect for sure!

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?

Nice occasions, and when I'm peer pressured into it!
11. Do you do a full face of makeup every day?

Nope! Mostly I don't wear any if I'm popping out or spending the day at home.. If I'm working it's minimal, then usually a full face if I'm going out in the evening

12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?

I don't
13. Will you leave the house without makeup?

You're more likely to catch me without it than with it.. However more recently I've been making more of an effort

14. How many high-end products do you have?

Quite a few, I like high-end base products like foundation, primer, concealer because I feel they personally work better with my skin.. But I have a few drugstore lipsticks!

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?

Haha I wish I could be so organised to plan my outfit the night before, I usually plan it whilst I'm still in bed preparing to get up..

16. How often do you change your handbag?

Depends on where I'm going, what i'm doing.. If I'm popping out for an hour I bring my little bag, if it's to the shopping centre or beach it's usually a bigger one.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?

I'm a bit of a night owl if I'm honest, I try to get to sleep before 12 and even then I wake up once or twice in the middle of the night.. My friends joke that I'm still in English time. At the moment I've been waking up at half 8 because I don't have any commitments during the day, but I'm sure when I'm back in England it'll be earlier for work!

18. How often or when do you workout?

ATM, I cycle pretty much everywhere.. To the beach, shops, cafe.. I try and do more but I get so bored!

19. Left handed or right handed?

Left

20. How tall are you?

Complete guess.. 5ft 5

English with a GCSE in German, and a couple of songs in French..

I have a cat, Miley.

Definitely every day

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?

Yes. I enjoy them, and learning from other peoples opinions..

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?

My notebook is jam packed..

26. How did you come up with your blog name?

I wanted something that flowed, my childhood nickname was Judy Rudy for some reason.. (Thanks mum!) and I think it went well..

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

I have a Sony a55 SLR

28. How often do you clean your house?

Everyday, my room is pretty much always tidy and organised

29. What's your favorite color?

Ahhhhh it changes so much! But I'm very into pastel colours at the moment.

30. What is your favorite drugstore/high end makeup brand?

Drugstore would be Rimmel, Maybelline and No7

High End would be NARS, Laura Mercier, YSL and MAC

The 'Make-Up Tag'

So as you may have already gathered, my blog is pretty much surrounded by makeup, skincare & beauty.. (although I do like to jazz it up a little and add something different) so naturally I was drawn to this tag.  If you know me well, you'll know that as much as I'm obsessed with makeup, I don't actually wear it as much as you would think.. Yes I go all out for nights out but who doesn't? If I'm at work or slothing around at home I'm generally bare faced, because you're reading this post you're probably just as nosey as me and want to know my 'general' makeup routine, habits & thoughts.. So here goes..

The temporary Australian life..

Please note, this is not beauty related.. I just wanted to do something different.

Last year was a pretty difficult year for me, A-Levels, Break-ups, leaving my family and friends to come over here.. At 18 I wanted to experience different things and was sick of the same boring routine at home.. Australia came at the best time, I meet people out here and they say 'how are you doing this so young?' And to be honest it's not as difficult as it looks.. Once you're out here and settled, the big wide world isn't as scary as you once thought. There's so much to learn and see, the way of life is different and inspiring and I would literally recommend it to anyone.

I started my journey in Toowoomba, Queensland, which at the time was great, I had friends and nightlife, shops and coffee.. Because this was my first proper place I'd stayed in Australia I didn't know any different, I'd been to Brisbane and it was so much more vibrant and city like I just thought of it as a major city (a bit like London, but not) but when I visited the Gold Coast for the weekend I was shocked at how much more of Australia there was, and how much better and more full of life the east coast was. When back in Toowoomba I literally longed for the sun and beach, the cool down to earth people.. Toowoomba was nice but I found everyone so miserable! I made the decision after 3 months to move state from Queensland to New South Wales, and stay in Byron Bay for the rest of my trip.. BEST DECISION I could have ever made. The state itself is completely different, where I am everyone is considered 'hippie / earthy like' which I love, people are so chilled and relaxed (even when they're not on pot) and I'm just so much more suited to this type of life.. Even if it is away from the City.

Byron Bay is a beautiful town on the most easterly point of Australia. I've seen Snakes, Lizards, Geckos and Dolphins.. all very natural and if I wasn't technically a tourist it would be a norm to see these practically every day! The main square itself is packed full of shops, gelato&juice bars, licensed bars and quaint little coffee shops.. There are a few beaches to choose from but Main Beach seems to be popular. You can watch the sunset up on the hill by the beach with the rest of the locals and travellers whilst music is played out of a van or someone with a drum! It really is great.

'The Pass' - where you'll find the most easterly point of Australia.

Carols By the Sea at Christmas..
Drums at sunset.

will be so sad to leave in April, this place has given me the opportunity to learn something new about the world and even myself, I'm more mature, independent and appreciative of the little things.. All of which are down to this experience alone, that I wouldn't change for the world.

Bit of an 'out there' post, and obviously not beauty related.. But I like to mix it up now and then so let me know if you'd like a second edition, or a more detailed post about my time here.

Review: Maybelline Colour Show Nail Lacquer in 'Chiffon Chic'

As many of you may know, I'm currently living in Australia, I came over here with very limited nail lacquers because I knew I'd be able to buy them easily over here.. Well, easier said than done. I live in Byron Bay, (I'll drop a photo in at the end of this post) and it's very difficult to buy makeup on this end of Australia..I've been on the eye out for a nail polish for a couple of months now, I wanted the perfect colour and this is exactly what I had in mind!
The Maybelline Colour Show is a great low priced polish (£2.99 from Boots to be exact) which in this shade produces a very pretty spring/summer pink.. with a slight purple undertone (And I needed something to go with my Ozzie tan!) it's not gloopy in any way and I've had it on for 3 days with an OPI top coat and so far no chips! Nice one Maybelline.

It really is a gorgeous girly pink, with some slight purple undertones..

I can't imagine I'll be changing this colour up anytime soon.. I've checked out the range in Boots and there is a wide range of colours available, I can imagine I'll be snapping them up quick when I'm back on English soil. The perfect affordable polish!

Main Beach, Byron Bay. - I'll be uploading a 'non-beauty' related post about my trip over here very soon.. So if you'd like a read, keep watching and leave a comment if you liked it!

> I'm passionate about culture and the wide variety of it in the world, therefore I would love to travel the world, and plan on doing so.
> I love disney, i'm a kid at heart.

Here are the answers to the Questions I was given from Lauren:

What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I think for me, I like sharing things with other people, I've always been into writing, I studied English at A-Level and have read a ton of books since I can remember.. I'm a very passionate person about a number of things - beauty being one of them and I feel I can get lost in my blog, it's my own little something.

What inspired you to create your blog?
I really got into makeup/skincare last year, I've always been a fan but I started learning the more technical side of it. I started reading other blogs, and YouTube videos.. and then realised that I could actually do it myself. Claire from Beauty and Le Chic was one of the first blogs I ever read, and still read..

Do you plan on blogging still in the future or is it more of a 'temporary' thing for you?
I definitely plan on sticking around, I enjoy it.. I like testing new products and sharing them with my followers.. I like the monthly favourites, FOTD, empties etc.. When I arrive back home I'll probably be reviewing more as I'll be in a better position to purchase products!

What is your favourite app?
This is tricky, I want to say Twitter but it's actually been boring me recently.. and I find the blogger and bloglovin app awful! Oh my goodness, I've only just remembered Spotify, how could I forget.. I'm addicted. It's the best for discovering new artists and finding playlists that suite your music taste. Paying for premium is well worth it to!

If you had to use just one beauty product for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Mmm, Mascara. I would never have said that two years ago but I really can see a difference when I apply mascara, I'm lucky enough not to suffer with bad skin so foundation wouldn't be a necessity.

What's your favourite 'non beauty' product?
Can I say TV programmes? It's not really a product but I'm into so many programmes.. I've actually lost count of how many I watch, I'm so addicted, it's so bad..

What's your favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe?
Most people might reply to this question with a really expensive jacket or a top designer dress, or shoes from a high end brand.. But actually, I have this one jumper right, and I think it's from New Look.. Anyways it's has a lot of holes in it, and it's ready to check out but it's so comfy I can't even bring myself to do it.. I wear it a lot, and I'm not an extreme fashion conscious person so it doesn't bother me.

What do you do in your free time?
Currently in Australia, I spend my free time Blogging, spending time at the Beach, I'm very into Photography, so I enjoy getting out and taking some photographs.. Cafe bars (coffee addict hello) Juice & Smoothie bars.. Cinema, eating out etc. When I'm in England I usually find something to do with friends.

What is your current favourite social network?
mmm I'd say Instagram.

What have you gained from blogging?
I enjoy it in general really, I've gained a better knowledge on products whether that be high end or drugstore .. foundation or eye shadows.. And I think I'm more me, with a blog.

Who is your favourite Youtuber?
I want to say Zoella, mainly because I love her personality.. I think she seems like a great person, but I love Essie button and Tanya Burr for their reviews, looks etc.

My Nominations for the 'Liebster Award' are:

Here are my 11 questions for you:

1. What or who inspired you to become a blogger?
2. Stranded on a desert island, would you rather mascara or foundation? and why?
3. Where is the furthest place you have travelled to?
4. What would be your 'dream' job?
5. One quote you live by?
6. Favourite beauty brand?
7. Who is your icon? and why?
8. High street or High end brands?
9. Favourite book you have ever read and why?
10. Favourite season?
11. Describe a typical Saturday for you..

Let me know on Twitter (@jesssokeefe) once you have answered my questions, as I'd love to have a read. Have fun with it!
