I've been meaning to do a review on a product for a while now, but because I haven't tried anything new recently I've been struggling to find something to talk or rave about. Over the last month or so I've been widening the use of all products stashed in my draw, which range from foundations to BB creams to tinted moisturisers & powders etc you get the jist. In the last week or so I would say I've been reenlightening my love for the 'NARS sheer glow foundation' I bought last year.
One question I do keep asking myself is, 'why did you ever stop using it?'
This foundation is up there on one of the most talked about foundations in the beauty blogging world, why you ask? Because it's bloody fantastic. It performs to it's description and more, coverage - check, lasting power - check, weightless - check, easily blendable - check, glowing finish - check.. Need I go on?
Space NK have given their own little summary of it..
"Sheer Glow Foundation improves skin brightness, radiance and texture. For normal to dry skin types.
- Minimizes visible discoloration
- Brightens and clarifies overall skin tone
- Improves skin luminosity and radiance
- Hydrates for softer and smoother skin
- Dermatologist tested. Non-comedogenic. Fragrance Free"
As said, it is aimed for normal to dry skin, I however have combination skin with the occasional more on the oily side days, and this foundation seems to work fine.. I'm not sure if it's because I tend to use a little finishing powder over my look, or because I'm into the whole dewy/natural finish but I have no problems with it. I would suggest though, if like me you have oily/combination skin.. Give the NARS Sheer Matte foundation a little look, I believe it's almost like the Sheer Glow but aimed at women with combination/oily skin.
In general, I apply this using my Real Techniques Buffing Brush or Morphe G4 and it blends in beautifully, as a medium-high coverage foundation it's easily buildable also. NARS recommends using your fingers to apply this, however I'm besotted with the effects of using a brush.
I don't usually wear foundations if I'm out and about, I often tend to aim for a lighted tinted moisturiser but this is definitely a go-to if I'm out for the evening or an event/party. It has no SPF in it, which means your safe from the flash photography ghost like look dilemma! It comes in a whopping 14 shades, so you're bound to find your perfect match..
At £31.00 from Space.NK here it is more on the pricey side, but I can honestly say the bottle has lasted me nearly a good whole year with life still in it. (Note: I don't wear it daily) you can buy it here for Space.NK but I would definitely recommend going in and having a chat with one of the Space.NK ladies, they can guide you on a perfect colour match and give you a hand at choosing Sheer Glow or Sheer Matte.
One thing I will say about this foundation is the applicator.. It's an open bottle (see picture) no pump, no chance of getting just a squidge out.. It's one hell of a daring application, once you get the hang of it, it's fine. NARS do sell a foundation pump separately for like £4.00 but everytime I try to buy it, it is sold out! argh. - this is the only fault I can give it.
I have a few different bases I could review, so if you liked the post let me know and I'll consider writing some more up! - also let me know if you've tried this foundation or know of a cheaper drugstore dupe!
